WONDERLAND OF DECAY

WOOP...my first bloggers post…and I think its only right to debut with Suzy Poling. I have instantly fallen in love with her work! Studying Graphic Design, you can easily fall into the trap of sleek, perfected vector design and although I still love and appreciate this kind of work, my main inspiration and passion comes from the beauty of decay in our surroundings. (manmade or natural)

In the series ‘Wonderland of Decay’ Suzy seems to infuse beauty and life into unused mental institutions. In an interview she states that her; 'interest lies in how a place can succumb to nature and how falling apart is an innate design.’ I’ve always been interested in the natural beauty of our surroundings and I have endless photographs attempting to document it myself, I just need to channel these ideas it into my graphics more. Her other photography is filled with interesting colour, shape and texture combinations that are really inspiring and visually exciting > HERE

The abstract black and white pieces below are called ‘zone modules’, which I absolutely love. I'd love one as a print. x
